Orange Cat

I’m heartbroken to share that we had to say goodbye to Orange Cat. He became suddenly and intensely ill with no end in sight so we chose our suffering over his own and allowed him a gentle exit.

From the time so many years ago that a tiny, stray kitten wandered into Joe’s shop, crawled up his pant leg, and nuzzled into his neck he changed my “not a cat person” husband into one who gets it.

In the true reputation of orange cats he was the most warm and personable guy in our home. He was eager to be friends, silly it seemed on purpose, and a purring snuggle bug. He was Joe’s Good Boy and my Buddy Bear. He sent up a simple meow any time one of us sneezed as if he knew what “God bless you” meant.

Just like with Nala who passed a few years ago, I was so happy when we bought our house and gave our previously apartment dwelling cats more space to wander as they pleased, and a back yard to play in on spring and fall days.

We’ve been so blessed to know our affectionately named Orange Cat, and we’re devastated to let him go. We’re endlessly grateful for the time we had with this light in our lives.
