Paco

On Sunday, January 15, 2023, under the care of Dr. Ruthie Franczek, Paco passed away peacefully at home, surrounded in love by his human mother, Alana Sibitzky and his human father, Nathan Sibitzky. He was just over 12 years old.

Paco was born on November 4th, 2010. Nathan and Alana adopted Paco on a cold January 23rd day in 2011. From the beginning, Paco was a sweet, smart and as one of his surgeons later in his life would say, spicy boy.

Paco was a very cherished chihuahua and enjoyed a home with a big backyard, with trees full of squirrels. He found the perfect spots to sunbathe and would lounge on the sofa and nap most days. He provided surveillance on the squirrel population, barking at them as they roamed around his yard and ran up his trees.

In April of 2017, Paco unfortunately was hit by a car while playing outside. While nobody can be sure why he was headed into the road that day, it is generally assumed he was again chasing a squirrel. After surviving the accident, Paco was rushed to a veterinary surgery center in Christiana, DE. He spent several days and nights there. His parents were advised that Paco may never walk on his hind legs again. His parents repeatedly told the surgery team they didn't care, they would take care of him and provide him the best quality of life, no matter what. His parents picked him up once he was cleared and they were advised that he still could not walk.

Once back home and comfortable, Paco improved his movement on his hind legs and regained most mobility, to the point where he could once again get around in his yard. An incredible accomplishment; Paco never gave up.

Throughout his life, Paco's family welcomed a total of three children into the family. Although at times, the volume of noise in his house drove Paco crazy, he loved his human siblings. His favorite activity with the kids was during bathtime, where he would lap at the water they spilled over the bathtub and lick their legs once they stepped out of the tub. He continued this until nearly the time of his passing.

This past summer in 2022, Paco became a camping dog. He joined his family on their camping adventures and loved being picked up and put in the truck for a camping trip. He loved arriving at campgrounds and smelling the foreign scents and exploring new lands. He also thoroughly enjoyed laying on his pillowbed in the center of the camper at night, keeping an eye on everyone in his family from his spot.

In his final days, Paco fought to remain with his family while he could. He continued to make memories as best he could with his family and they will always be much cherished moments. Paco could not have been more loved by his family and their hope is that he is now running as fast as he can, once again, chasing squirrels.
