Cosette

Our beloved Cosette came into my life in 2014. I adopted her from AWSOM. She was my first cat, and I had no idea that she would transform my life. She was a beautiful short-hair calico whom the shelter estimated was about a year and a half old at the time of adoption. Cosette warmed up to me slowly. At the time, I lived alone in a studio apartment while finishing my graduate studies. For the first month, Cosette hid during the day and only came out when she was confident that I was asleep.

Around the second month, she emerged from her hiding spot and cautiously climbed into my lap. From that day forward, my life was filled with love and joy as we played and snuggled together every day. She was remarkably affectionate, and after a few years of the good life, she lost all fear of people.

Food was always a passion for Cosette. She would over-eat, so I had to learn how to support her into healthy eating habits. She loved to play independently and especially with her family. In 2020, I married my wife Aly, whom Cosette adored. Aly was a devoted mother to Cosette, and spoiled her relentlessly.

Coco made me a better person. When our first child was born in February of 2026, I felt better prepared because of Cosette. Our son Cedric adored Cosette until she passed away in October. We miss her every day, but we are slowly adjusting to life without her physical presence, knowing that her loving spirit is still home with us every day. I will always count her first among the blessings that I've had in my life, and I look forward every day to snuggling up with her in spirit.
