Maxy

Maxy Underfoot Carrol Landry passed away peacefully and gently at home surrounded by his family on August 20th, he was 15.

Born in Ohio to a litter of an unknown number, he was initially adopted by a young family and named Ryder. After a few short months, the family realized his spirit was too wild and freaky for the stage of life they were in. Answering a classified ad: “free dog to good home”, Ryder was adopted again and given the name Max.

Maxy lived with his lifelong companion, Meg, in Bowling Green, Ohio for a couple of years before relocating to Philadelphia. In Philly, Max enjoyed a life full of long walks, traipsing in rivers and streams, sleeping in the bed and lots of love from friends, neighbors and strangers.

In 2020, Maxy met his best friend, Brad who would go on to spend all day, every day, by his side for the last 2 years of his life. Together Brad and Max developed a strong relationship and came to be known as the “crunch brothers” in part, because they shared tortilla chips almost daily.

Maxy spent two years of his life in New Orleans, Louisiana where he learned the value of a walk after the sun has gone down, how to gracefully trip over live oak roots, and hated Mardi Gras because it meant his people were always leaving for parades.

Maxy returned to Philadelphia and spent his golden years hanging on the porch, snoozing on the couch and taking slow meandering walks to the park.

He will be remembered for his free and freaky spirit, his talkative nature, his one white toe and his down for anything attitude. We will miss him dearly.

“It’s me and you and you and me, doing the things that we like to do” forever and ever, always.
